This week is Organ Donation Week, the perfect time to make a life saving difference.

Our Club referee Gregory Walsh recently took part in the British Transplant Games in Nottingham where he won Silver and Bronze swimming medals. He also travelled with the Northern Ireland Transplant Soccer Team to the Transplant Soccer World Cup in Italy.

None of this would have been possible if Gregory had not received a heart transplant on 1st January 2018 due to the selfless decision of a donor and their family to donate their organs to save the life of others.

On 1st June 2023, Daithi's law was introduced in Northern Ireland which assumed that everyone agreed to donate their organs in the event of their death unless you specifically opted out.

However, even if you do want to donate your organs, there are two things you need to do

1. Register your decision to donate.
 2. Talk to your loved ones about what you've decided. Your family will be consulted if organ donation is a possibility, even in an opt out system.

Right now more than 7600 people, including over 250 children, are in desperate need of an Organ Donation.

Your decision to donate could save up to 9 lives.

It takes just two minutes to register your organ donation decision, at the link below. Your choice could save up to nine lives. It’s the best thing you’ll do today! https://orlo.uk/AKbKS
